We are looking forward to welcoming our new intake of children into school this September.
Contact the office on 01694 722682 to book a visit.
Once you have secured a place for your child at St Lawrence Primary School you will receive an induction pack and an invitation for your child to join a Discovery Session during the summer term.
Our Discovery Sessions are an opportunity for children (who don’t attend our school nursery) to spend time in their new classroom and make some new friends before they start school in September. Our Early Years Teachers visit the local nurseries and childcare facilities to get to know children and see them in a familiar setting. Please let us know where your child has been to nursery and we’ll make the link.
Children who attend our school nursery will get an opportunity to spend one day a week in the Reception Class during the summer term. We can offer this regular programme of transition visits for children in our nursery working within current regulations. In this way, we can limit numbers during each transition visit during June/July so that our team can get to know each child better and meet families before they start with us in September.
We want to develop a strong partnership with parents and carers from the start so please do talk to us about your child, ask questions and share any concerns so we are ready for when they start school. If you would like to come in and help with reading, join us on local visits or have time to spare please also let us know. Volunteers are always needed.
Although it is no longer possible to welcome parents into the classroom to settle children in each morning at the start of the new school year. We have an experienced team of staff who will meet and greet you every day at the gate and who will support each child to settle into the classroom. We find that our children quickly adapt to the new routine and soon feel happy and confident especially when they are encouraged to be more independent. Please do make a start by encouraging children to carry their own bags, put on their own coats and eat with a knife and fork as this all helps to build confidence.
