Angie Walshaw
Community Governor
I am married with two grown-up children. I began working as a children’s nanny in London and became a childminder when my children were born. When my children started school, I began working part-time at our local Sainsbury’s, progressing from Cashier to Store Manager over the years.
I moved permanently to Church Stretton in 2010 and was quickly absorbed into community life. I am a Scout Explorer leader, treasurer of the Longmynd Hike and treasurer of Stretton Pool Action. I love coming into school on Tuesday mornings to hear children read and thoroughly enjoy being involved in school life, whether walking up Cardingmill Valley, a museum, or a residential at the Pioneer Centre.
I try to do my bit to make a difference in the community. During COVID-19, I volunteered with the Mayfair Centre which coordinated operations, delivering shopping from the Co-Op, free school meals for St. Lawrence pupils and Meals on Wheels to the elderly. I continue to deliver Meals on Wheels to this day, as I feel it is important to “pay it forward”.
I feel being a governor marries all my skills in business with my love of children and look forward to serving the school.
